Laying the foundations of a learning platform still in use eight years on
I was part of the small team that built the first version of a multi-tenant learning management system. The backend structure I helped put in place is still there eight years later, and I still support it.

The starting point
An e-learning studio needed its own learning management system: one platform, used by many client organisations, for delivering SCORM courses and other training to their staff.
My part
I was part of the initial team that built it. I didn't write everything, far from it, but I had a big hand in shaping the backend Laravel project: how it was structured, where things lived, and the patterns the rest of the code would follow.
Why the foundations mattered
Over the years many developers have worked on the platform and added their own features. Because the structure was clear from the start, new people could find their way around and build on it, rather than each inventing their own approach.
Where it is now
Eight years on, the platform is used by thousands of learners and the original foundations are still in place. I still support and maintain it today.
